Ph.D. from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, 1972. His research areas are microeconomic theory, cultural economics and the economics of languages. He has been visting professor in several US universities (Yale, Virginia, Chicago), as well as in France (Paris and Marseille), and in Belgium (Louvain and Liège).
