Rhetorical Structure of Applied Linguistics Research Article Discussions: A Comparative Cross-Cultural Analysis

Аннотация

Введение. В последние годы были предприняты огромные исследовательские усилия по развитию английского языка для академических и исследовательских целей публикации с использованием устоявшегося подхода к сравнительному жанровому анализу. Этот растущий интерес в первую очередь обусловлен глобальным доминированием англоязычных правил письма, что требует повышения осведомленности среди исследователей, особенно в неанглоязычных контекстах.

Цель. В этом исследовании изучались и анализировались коммуникативные намерения дискуссионных разделов в исследовательских статьях в двух разных контекстах, чтобы исследовать влияние на структурную организацию в этом жанре. Основное внимание в исследовании уделялось риторической структуре и использованию ходов в обсуждениях исследовательских статей по прикладной лингвистике, написанных на английском языке иранскими исследователями и носителями английского языка.

Методы. Исследование с использованием смешанных методов было проведено на двух языковых корпусах, включающих 40 дискуссий, написанных иранскими учеными, и 40 дискуссий, написанных учеными-носителями английского языка, отобранных из научных статей, опубликованных в международных рецензируемых журналах.

Результаты. Сравнение двух языковых корпусов выявило сходства и различия в частоте, типе, структуре, последовательности и цикличности динамики. Несмотря на значительные различия в частоте и последовательности хода и последующих шагов, в обоих языковых корпусах использовались одни и те же типы. Они демонстрировали циклические структуры без признаков линейных примеров во всех обсуждениях. Обе группы исследователей сочли важным предоставить справочную информацию, а также сообщить и прокомментировать результаты в обсуждениях исследовательской статьи, однако с заметными различиями в стратегиях комментирования, то есть следующих шагов. Результаты показали, что социокультурные условности, возможно, повлияли на понимание учеными- и чрезмерное использование определенной хода и последующих шагов в обсуждениях исследовательских статей.

Выводы. Результаты этого исследования предоставляют научно обоснованные доказательства для практической и педагогической помощи в контексте английского языка для академических и конкретных целей, особенно в преподавании английского языка с целью публикации научных исследований ученым, не являющимся носителями английского языка.
