Благополучие и реакция на стресс преподавателей английского как иностранного в университетах Саудовской Аравии
Аннотация
Исследования психологии преподавателей иностранных языков показали, что она значительно влияет на качество преподавания и успеваемость учащихся. Однако, существует мало эмпирических данных для изучения взаимосвязи между реакцией на стресс, типами стрессоров и благополучием среди преподавателей иностранных языков на университетском уровне, особенно в условиях одноязычия. Настоящее исследование направлено на изучение влияния стресса, количества и типа стрессоров (т.е. хронических и стрессовых жизненных ситуаций) и демографических переменных (т.е. возраста, пола и стажа преподавания) на уровень благополучия преподавателей английского как иностранного в университетах. Данные были собраны с помощью онлайн-опроса 53 преподавателей университетов в Саудовской Аравии. Для изучения взаимосвязи между благополучием учителей английского как иностранного, их восприятием стресса и количеством стрессоров был применен коэффициент корреляции Пирсона. Также был проведен множественный регрессионный анализ для выяснения того, могут ли уровни стресса преподавателей, количество и типы стрессоров, а также демографические переменные предсказать их психологическое благополучие. Количественные результаты продемонстрировали значительную отрицательную взаимосвязь между благополучием и уровнем стресса. Результаты также показали значительную положительную взаимосвязь между благополучием преподавателей английского как иностранного и их хорошим физическим здоровьем. Результаты множественной регрессии показали, что высокий уровень благополучия обусловлен низким уровнем стресса и хорошим физическим здоровьем. Кроме того, это исследование показало преимущество женщин с точки зрения психологического благополучия среди преподавателей иностранных языков. Полученные результаты также показали, что напряженная жизнь с большой нагрузкой и финансовыми проблемами может негативно сказаться на самочувствии преподавателей иностранных языков. Эти результаты подчеркивают важность рассмотрения вопросов, связанных с психологическим благополучием преподавателей. В соответствии с этими выводами было предложено несколько педагогических выводов.
