Качественные прилагательные в рефлексивных сочинениях студентов, изучающих английский язык как иностранный

Аннотация

Качественные прилагательные часто используются в экспрессивном письме, включая рефлексивное письмо. Они выражают и усиливают или смягчают чувства и эмоции, тем самым выражая позицию автора. В данной статье приводится анализ профилей прилагательных в рефлексивных эссе 60 студентов первого курса, изучающих английский язык, и сравнивается использование качественных прилагательных студентами мужского и женского пола в качестве оценочных маркеров для выражения своей позиции. Данные были собраны в ходе написания рефлексивного эссе после проведения семинара по эффективному аудированию. Анализ проводился с учетом Общего списка слов (ОСС), Списка академических слов (САС), а также слов, которые не встречаются ни в одном из данных списков. Результаты показали, что качественные прилагательные составили 6% слов в рефлексивных эссе, а студенты мужского пола использовали большее количество прилагательных, чем студенты женского пола. Эта разница, которая оказалась статистически значимой, вероятно, объясняется тем, что студенты-мужчины чаще использовали прилагательные из списков академических слов. Результаты также показали, что 47,5% прилагательных, использованных в этих эссе, были оценочными. Не было обнаружено статистически существенной разницы между частотой, с которой студенты мужского и женского пола использовали эти оценочные прилагательные. В статье представлены результаты и даны рекомендации по повышению эффективности использования студентами прилагательных в рефлексивном письме.
